RPCO 2 orients newly elected LGU officials on PRDP

Date Published: September 24, 2019

The Regional Project Coordination Office 2 (RPCO 2) led by Regional Executive Director Narciso A. Edillo briefed the newly elected mayors and vice mayors in Cagayan Valley on the processes of the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) at Hotel Ivory, Tuguegarao City.

“Instead of us going to the mayor’s offices explaining PRDP, it is best that we invite them together with the vice mayors and concerned department heads and collegially discuss this special project with them,” RED Edillo said.

Edillo has earlier told RPCO 2 officials to explain PRDP to the Municipal Level (MLGU).

Meanwhile, Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulatory, Dir. Rose Mary G. Aquino said that infrastructure projects proposed should support the municipality’s commodity as reflected in the Provincial Commodity Investment Plan (PCIP).

Many Municipal Local Government Units expressed their desire to partner with the Department of Agriculture through PRDP but they have yet to be filled in with the basic requirements needed for their Department Heads to accomplish.

After the Midterm Elections this year, Edillo noticed that there were new Local Chief Executives and Vice Mayors elected, thus, he spearheaded the planning for the mass briefing. Moreover, the PCIP has been updated and he thought that the LCE’s must be informed about the inclusion of commodities in the PCIP.

The heads of I-PLAN, I-REAP, and I-BUILD Components presented the processes and requirements needed for an MLGU to partner with PRDP.

Likewise, the roles of the different units under I-SUPPORT Component were discussed by the Unit Heads.

The municipalities of Ramon in Isabela; Ambaguio in Nueva Vizcaya, and Baggao in Cagayan are three MLGU’s with on-going PRDP-funded subprojects. (Dr. Ferdinand N. Cortez, RPCO2 InfoACE)
