Marinduque breaks ground for two FMRs worth PhP211 million
Marinduqueños can look forward to faster and more accessible transport of goods, thanks to the two Farm-to-Market Roads that the Provincial Government Unit broke ground under the Philippine Rural Development Project, April 4, 2023.
In her Inspirational Message, Regional Project Director Engr. Maria Christine Inting, MPM, reflected on the meticulous process leading to the groundbreaking ceremony and praised the local government unit (LGU) for their dedication.
“Hindi man po madali o agad-agad ang pagbuo ng proyekto na ito dahil sa kinakailangang maisigurado na maayos ang pagsasagawa nito para sa mas sustenableng daan.. At dahil po ito sa iisang pangarap ng Kagawaran, ng inyong lokal na pamahalaan sa pangunguna ni Gov. Presby kasama ang mga matitiyaga at masisipag na mga kawani, at dahil na rin sa inyong kagustuhan para sa mas maayos na daan, maisasakatuparan na po natin ang ating pangarap (Building this project has been challenging because we needed to ensure that the access road would be sustainable. Because of our shared dream with the Department and the Local Government unit led by Gov. Presby, and also our diligent staff and community’s desire for a better road, we are now making that shared dream come to life),” Engr. Inting narrated.
The Rehabilitation/Improvement of Brgy. Kaganhao – Banogbog Farm to Market Road in the Municipality of Santa Cruz has a subproject cost worth PhP104.35 million. This 3.36-kilometer access road aims to improve road access and to provide a safe and cost-effective route to more than 5,000 coconut farmers within the infrastructure’s Road Influence Area.
On the other hand, the Improvement/ Upgrading of Caganhao – Amoingon – Maybo Farm to Market Road will run the length of 5.14 kilometers, reaching the coastal communities in Brgy. Caganhao. This FMR aims to improve the lives of more than 3,000 farmers and residents within the Road Influence Area.
Governor Presbitero Velasco, Jr., Vice Governor Adeline Angeles, and Boac Mayor Armi Carrion led the two Groundbreaking Ceremonies.Also present in the ceremony were NEDA Regional Director Agustin Mendoza, DA-PRDP’s National Deputy Project Director Shandy Hubilla, CESO IV, EnP., Regional Project Director Engr. Maria Christine Inting, MPM, and Regional Deputy Project Director Engr. Annielyn Del Rosario, subproject beneficiaries, and other local key officials.
Marinduque has one completed FMR under PRDP in the form of the The Improvement/Upgrading of the Pantayin-Jolo-Napo subproject. This 4.3-kilometer FMR supports more than 2,000 residents in 410 households by providing a safe, convenient, and cost-effective road for the project beneficiaries. # (Danica A.
