Gerona, TARLAC – The Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) conducted an inspection of the nucleus farm for the production of breeder bucks and does with a civil works cost of P9 million on April 16, 2021, here.

Spearheaded by the Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO 3) together with the Project Support Office (PSO) in collaboration with the Provincial Local Government of Tarlac, a joint inspection was intended to assure that work progresses as planned both in terms of quality and compliance.

According to I-BUILD Rural Infrastructure Engineer Mary Joyce Quiros the subproject registered 24.75% in its physical progress.

Engr. Quiros also stressed that the contractor needs to insert additional manpower to meet construction deliverables within the target date of completion until May of 2021.

Meanwhile, I-REAP Business Development Officer Carissa Padilla-Cabubus stated the enterprise aims to provide less cost for upgrading breeds of native goats and to upsurge the meat & milk production through the establishment of the nucleus farm.

It can be recalled the Abagon Compact Farm and Seed Growers Multipurpose Cooperative were primarily engaged in the production of rice varieties for seeds.

However, members started to venture in goat production which sprouted from backyard farming.

Among other targets of the project is to benefit 135 households per year through the goat breeding program in collaboration with the local government of Tarlac.

Also present during the inspection are RPCO 3 Social Environmental and Safeguards (SES) Officer Jesusa Surla, RPCO 3 SES Associate Prince Roy Liwanag, RPCO 3 Geomapping and Governance GIS Data Officer Alvin Mariano, and PSO I-BUILD Rural Infrastructure Engineer Shiedel Delicano. (MA.
