Another road to progress opens for the farmers and residents of three barangays in Tudela, Misamis Occidental as the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project 10 (DA-PRDP 10) hands in the completed Construction and Rehabilitation of 13.335 km  Maikay – Cahayag – Buenavista Farm to Market Road on November 26, 2020.

In his welcome message, Tudela Mayor Samuel L Parojinog thanked DA-PRDP 10 while remembering the hardships they had with the old road. He said “We are very happy because finally, after a very long time, we were able to complete this road project. A lot of people from our municipality asked for this road to be realized, and now, it is finally here. I still remember before that traversing that route will take more than an hour. Now, you can do it within 10 minutes.”

DA-10 Regional Executive Director and DA-PRDP 10 Project Director Carlene C. Collada, CPA said that the LGU of Tudela should be proud because they were able to complete and turn over the longest FMR subproject in Misamis Occidental so far. “This is a legacy that the leaders of the municipality and even the benefiting barangays can take pride of. And when you say it’s a DA-PRDP subproject, you will be more proud because you completed a quality road project. We often hear that having a PRDP subproject is very tedious and hard, but with the results and benefits it bring, everything is worth it in the end” Collado also thanked the barangay officials for monitoring the subproject during the construction stage. “I hope you keep on monitoring the road especially now that it is turned over. So I ask you to take good care of this road” he added.

Closing the ceremony, Tudela Vice Mayor Estela Estano said that the turn-over ceremony  is indeed a bittersweet celebration. “We were able to experience the process of DA-PRDP and surely, it is not an easy journey, yet we completed it. And even though we are having an extraordinary year because of what is happening in the world right now, we are also celebrating an extraordinary milestone through this FMR. I hope that this is not the last DA-PRDP subproject that the LGU Tudela will undertake and we do hope that we can still qualify for other subprojects soon”

The Maikay – Cahayag – Buenavista FMR is the second FMR turned over to the municipality of Tudela with a total cost of Php 126,739,916.70. This will support 1,544 beneficiaries including farmers of coconut, banana, cacao, cassava, abaca, rubber, and various fruits and vegetables. #
