RPCO3, DA Region 3 staff and PPMIUs attend Training on Technical Writing

Date Published: September 16, 2015

To have a smoother and more effective communication between the Provincial Project Monitoring and Implementing Units (PPMIUs) and the Regional Project Coordination Office 3 (RPCO 3), the I-PLAN Component spearheaded a training on technical writing last September 9 – 11 in Angeles City, Pampanga. The three-day training, which was designed to gear the participants with an updated knowledge regarding technical writing, was attended by the PPMIUs of Central Luzon, RPCO3 technical staff, and Department of Agriculture Region 3 personnel.

Mr. Edwin Paningbatan, RPCO 3 I-PLAN Component Head, said that the training will be helpful in having a smooth flow of communication in the implementation and monitoring of subprojects under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP).

“Business letters, feasibility studies, business plans and other written communications are vital in the success of subprojects,” said Mr. Paningbatan, “and a simple error in these letters can delay or hinder the implementation of subprojects. That’s why RPCO 3 took the liberty of conducting an event that will train and update the participants not only with regards to PRDP, but also in the regular activities of their respective offices.” RPCO3 Alternate Focal Person Gil David, who also attended the said event, stated that the office will continue in providing capability-building activities for the PPMIUs and RPCO3 staff.

Communications and language experts from the Central Luzon State University served as the resource persons for the training that focused on the proper and ethical writing of business letters, technical reports, and project proposals, which are all of great importance in PRDP. As output of the training, the participants presented business letters and proposals of their subprojects that have been written and prepared in accordance with the topics of the training.
