Date Published: April 6, 2020

With the approval of the proposed P163 million Concreting of Crossing Blocon, Dalumay-Glamang FMR subproject during the DA-PRDP Regional Program Advisory Board (RPAB) meeting, some of the upland areas in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur will soon be made more accessible.

The 9.45-kilometer road concreting subproject will cover barangays Bacungan, Dalumay, Malawanit and Glamang, all of which produce different agricultural crops such as banana cardava, cacao, rice, corn, sugarcane mango and coconut. An estimated 1,665 households – 1,193 of which belong to farmers or fisherfolk – stand to benefit from subproject. Along with improved mobility, the improvement of the road network of the subproject is envisioned to decrease transportation costs of agricultural inputs and outputs, thereby increasing farmers’ land productivity and income which would redound to improved quality of life in the barangays covered by the subproject.

A portion of the Crossing Blocon Dalumay – Glamang FMR subproject covers the concrete road in barangay Malawanit which was damaged by the series of earthquakes that hit the municipality of Magsaysay late last year.  (Joseph John Palarca with reports from RPCO 11)
