PRDP Boosts Cacao Industry in Mindanao
DA-PRDP continues to play a crucial role in elevating the cacao industry across the four (4) regions in Mindanao. To date, PRDP has poured in a total of P1.8 billion worth of investments in support of cacao through their comprehensive infrastructure and enterprise support distributed across 46 subprojects.
These subprojects include the construction of farm-to-market roads as well as post-harvest facilities such as chocolate processing centers, warehouses, mechanical and solar dryers, and bean fermenting facilities.
Through their enterprise development interventions, PRDP Mindanao extends production and marketing support through the provision of machinery, equipment, transport vehicles and capitalization.
Region 11, which was declared the “Cacao Capital of the Philippines” under RA 115471 received the largest support from PRDP with a total of P1.3 billion encompassing 28 subprojects.
This is followed by Region 9 with a total of P234.4 million support for seven (7) subprojects, Region 12 with P10 million worth investments for six (6) cacao-related subprojects, and Region 10, which received a total of 155 million for five (5) subprojects.
As we celebrate the month of love, consider sharing delicious chocolates from our local producers with your loved ones. In doing so, you not only bring joy to your special someone but also contribute to the livelihoods of more cacao farmers.
