Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya — Located in a mountainous area where vast landscape and unimaginable terrain, residents, and farmers of the villages of Ammoweg and Camandag will soon benefit from the 10.06km farm-to-market road that is worth 203.8M Php funded under the Department of Agriculture Philippine Rural Development Project (DA PRDP).

Supporting the coffee industry, the construction of the road shall soon commence after its groundbreaking last December 7, 2022.

According to Deputy Project Director Rose Mary G. Aquino, the quality infrastructure support will spring progress and development for the farmers. “We hope, with this project, we will not receive a report of agricultural produce wastage because of road transport problems. On the contrary, we hope this will pave the way for our farmers in Ambaguio to become rich, and after the road construction, all of you (farmers) will have your 4×4 car.”

Luis Dulnuan, a farmer, said residents here would feel a significant impact of this project. “It will help the farmers and the youths who attend school and live far from it. As farmers face transportation woes, they bring the produce to the market. This will lessen transportation costs because the fare is expensive if the road here is not built. The fare is double when it is raining.”

“The project underwent a tedious process,” Aquino said, adding that the leaders were aggressive and proactive in proposing and making this a reality. “It means they have ambition for this municipality and dream for the farmers. And we support them as their partner, the Department of Agriculture hopes to see more participative and engaged farmers. We hope that you are inspired to feed our country.”

Eunice Gambol, board member, 4th district of Nueva Vizcaya, said visitors will now have the chance to visit the thriving agro-tourism industry, and the agricultural support will bolster economic development.

She said that almost impossible today to achieve development here, but their leaders started it years ago, and they are grateful to them.

Ambaguio Mayor Ronelio Danao said that the government is at work thru DA PRDP and will become a catalyst of change as it funds a quality infrastructure to solve the problems of this town.

“Thank you to all involved agencies who helped with this project, it was a tedious process, and the provincial government allowed their counterparts. Thank you to all of you, and we dedicate this in the name of public service. We waited for these for so long, and we thank the DA PRDP for this rural infrastructure support, as it will help us transport our produce efficiently,” he ended.

Janete B. Bahel, a farmer, said they have been waiting for this for so long, but when this DA PRDP intervened, they were grateful as it meant their plight would soon be eliminated.
