MSU-LNAC INK MOA With DA-PRDP 10 for Technical Research

To further promote the utilization of coco peat as organic fertilizer for crop production, the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project 10 (DA-PRDP 10) through Regional Executive Director, Carlene C. Collado, signs a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) showing support to the research of Mindanao State University – Lanao del Norte Agricultural College (MSU-LNAC) represented by University Campus Head, Dr. Indihra D. Tawantawan  on October 19, 2021, here in this city.

Stipulated in the said MOA, DA-PRDP 10 will fund the study of the “Technical Research on Coco Peat Utilization for CROP Production Phase 2” to be conducted by MSU-LNAC which will run from October 2021-March 2022.

The research consisting of 2 phases, generally aims to promote the utilization of coco peat as organic fertilizer and demonstrate the feasibility of its utilization for crop production such as coconut, bell pepper and low land rice.

The phase 2 of this research aims to collect, compare and complete data from the first and second cropping seasons of the identified commodities. The result of this study will be used in aiding the farmers to gain organic certification as an intervention strategy identified in the Value Chain Analysis of Coconut Fiber. # (IAgawin)
