Mayors of Quirino, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Santiago City attend DA-PRDP orientation

To open up possible subproject funding opportunities that will spur agricultural development, the Department of Agriculture Philippine Rural Development Regional Project (DA PRDP) Coordination Office No. 2 orients the newly elected officials of the provinces of Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, and the City of Santiago at 3K by Zen Hotel, Santiago City, Sept. 30, 2022. 

The Local chief executives (LCEs) and officials attended the orientation’s second leg to personally equip themselves with the DA PRDP processes and practices. 

Rose Mary G. Aquino, deputy project director for RPCO 2, said the Local Government Units (LGUs) are at the forefront of subproject implementation and packaging of proposals. “I always challenge the LCEs; you are our partners in executing the subprojects. The region is consistently gaining one of the biggest budget allocations in Northern Luzon.”

Aquino, the Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulatory, presented the orientation’s goals and objectives, highlighting PRDP’s organizational structure, general procedures, current undertakings, and plans. 

Orlando Chan, City of Santiago councilor, welcomed the participants and delivered the message of Mayor Sheena Tan-Dy. He said the city is thankful for providing various PRDP subprojects under completed and undergoing status. 

“As an LGU implementer, we know that every single project start with planning, if carefully planned and well-studied will always yield positive results,” he ended.

IPLAN Component Head Kay Olivas led the discussion where she stressed the significance of the city and provincial investment commodity plan per province/city and the priority commodities in the respective cities and provinces with value chain analysis.
