The Provincial Government of La Union hosted a Pre-Bid Conference for the Construction of Balecbec Bridge at the Provincial Capitol’s Diego Silang Hall on May 23, 2016.

The Construction of Balecbec Bridge is the Package 2 of the pilot infrastructure subproject of La Union under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) in support to the mango commodity. With a total length of 30 lineal meters, its estimated project cost totals to P21,907,000. There is an expected negative variation order as the Package 2 includes a detour that is now incorporated in the Package 1 or the Rehabilitation of the Balecbec-Basca Farm to Market Road.

The Package 1 is about to be implemented by the Province of La Union with the Goldrich Construction and Trading. Its As-stake survey has recently been concluded.

Previously, there was bid failure for the procurement of the Balecbec Bridge due to the contractors’ lack of single relevant experience for the last five years and key personnel’s relevant experience.

Two interested contractors, namely Chiara Construction and RJ Flores Construction, attended the Pre-bid Conference. The Bid Opening for the Re-bid of the Construction of Balecbec Bridge was held on 7 June 2016.
