La Union bestows Pammadayaw award to three Aggie Regional Heads
City of San Fernando, La Union – In recognition of their inspiring leadership and significant contributions in spurring agricultural growth and development in the Province of La Union, three key officials of the Department of Agriculture were among the awardees of the prestigious Pammadayaw 2015 Awards of the Province of La Union.
Consisting of nine award categories, the Pammdayaw 2015 awarding ceremonies is one of the highlights and most awaited event of La Union’s Foundation Anniversary Celebration.
Held on March 1, 2015 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, awardees from the Department of Agriculture were DA-Regional Field Office I Regional Executive Director Valentino C. Perdido and Regional Technical Director for Operations, Dr. Paz L. Mones, and from DA-Regional Field Office 3 was Regional Executive Director Andrew Villacorta.
The three Directors were given recognitions in relation to their roles in delivering responsive technical assistance and services particularly in the implementation of PRDP in the Province of La Union being the pilot area for the said project.
The Province conferred the Governor’s Award to Dir. Valentino Perdido for manifesting genuine leadership and active involvement in providing opportunities of increasing agricultural productivity and income of farmers and fisherfolk in the province. Dir. Perdido is also the Chairman of the Regional Project Advisory Board (RPAB) of PRDP in Region I.
The Governor’s Award is given to qualified residents, non-residents and organizations in recognition of their valuable contributions, exemplary services for the progress and development of the province and who brought honor and pride to the province in their respective field of expertise. The nominees were carefully screened by the Governor himself.
Dr. Paz L. Mones on the other hand, received the La Union Service Award, the second highest award given to qualified public officials and private citizens who have rendered outstanding and exemplary accomplishments in helping the provincial administration promote the cause of good government and preserve the ideals of public service. Dr. Mones is also Region I’s Focal Person for PRDP.
Meanwhile, Dr. Andrew Villacorta received the Diego Silang award which is the highest award given to qualified individuals who are non-residents of the province but whose efforts have contributed greatly to the progress of La Union and the well being of the people. Aside from being the Regional Executive Director of DA-RFO III, Dr. Villacorta is the Project Director of Luzon-A Cluster for PRDP and has been very supportive of the province in its bid to obtain World Bank’s approval for its first pilot subproject under PRDP which is the Rehabilitation of the Balecbec-Basca FMR with Bridge amounting to P74,353,586.80.
The awarding ceremonies was spearheaded by the Provincial Local Government Unit Officials of La Union headed by Governor Manuel C. Ortega, together with Vice-Governor Aureo Augusto Q. Nisce, 2nd District Congressman Eufranio C. Eriguel, Abono Partylist Congressman Francisco Emmanuel R. Ortega III, 1st District Congressman Victor F. Ortega and all Sanguniang Panlalawigan Members of the province. (Ilocos InfoACE)
