Farmers and residents of four barangays in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte can now enjoy better road access as the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project 10 (DA-PRDP 10) turned over the Mahayahay – Buenavista – Tiacongan – Bagong Silang Farm to Market Road to the Local Government Unit on December 2, 2019 in time with their celebration of the 73rd Annual Town Fiesta.

The 13.4 KM FMR worth Php 142,197,931.45 will serve the residents especially the farming families of coconut, rice, corn and other high-valued crops.

In his message, Kapatagan Mayor Barry Y. Baguio thanked those who exerted efforts for the completion of the said FMR. “We  have faced a lot of challenges that resulted to some delays in our project implementation, but because of our cooperation, together with the contractor, the barangay officials, the RPCO 10, and the recipient barangays, the much awaited road has finally been turned-over” Baguio added.

OIC – Regional Executive Director of DA-10 and Project Director of PRDP 10 Carlene C. Collado, CPA, congratulated the LGU of Kapatagan for successfully completing the subproject and reminded them that the assistance of PRDP does not end there. “You still have six proposals submitted to us and three have already been validated. Once these proposals are approved and issued with No Objection Letter 1 (NOL 1), we can immediately begin construction; more farmers and residents can benefit from LGU and PRDP’s collaboration” Collado added.

Also gracing the event was Lanao del Norte 2nd District Congressman Abdullah D. Dimaporo, officials of LGU Kapatagan, and barangay officials, farmers and residents of the benefiting barangays. (Cyrus Seraspe /RPCO 10)
