The Provincial LGUs of Isabela and Mountain Province signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) earlier today, August 1, at the Provincial Capitol of Isabela, City of Ilagan, for a farm-to-market road subproject proposed for funding under the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Scale-Up.
The signing ceremony was led by Isabela Governor Rodolfo T. Albano III and Mountain Province Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr., accompanied by department heads from both PLGUs. DA-PRDP Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO) 2 Deputy Project Director Kay Olivas and RPCO Cordillera I-BUILD Component Head Engr. Gaston B. Cael were also present to witness the event.
This agreement marks a collaborative effort to enhance accessibility and establish vital market linkages. The MOA covers the terms and conditions for the proposed construction of the 9.089-kilometer Malamtam-Bitabit-Catao FMR with 50-linear meter bridge, which will start at Sitio Catao, Buringal, Paracelis, Mountain Province, and end at Malamtam, Dummon, Quezon, Isabela.
During the event, Governor Lacwasan expressed his gratitude to the DA-PRDP and the PLGU of Isabela for this promising partnership.
“This is an important economic collaboration between our provinces, providing our farmers with essential market access. We are the farm, and you are the market,” Governor Lacwasan stated.
Governor Albano reaffirmed his commitment to support the success of the proposed subproject.
“Once the project is completed, accessibility will be significantly improved. If we can assist in the progress of your province, we will do so gladly. We are delighted to witness the advancement of each province,” said Governor Albano.
The ceremony concluded with a brief presentation outlining the subproject’s location.
The DA-PRDP Scale-Up is a flagship project under the DA aimed at enhancing food supply chain efficiency by improving connectivity, mobility, accessibility, availability, and affordability through scientifically-based infrastructure and enterprise subprojects.###
