I-BUILD Conducts Refresher Course on Infra Quality and Monitoring

Date Published: July 5, 2024

As part of PRDP’s mandate to support a modern, climate-smart and market-oriented agri-fishery sector, the I-BUILD Component of PRDP MIMAROPA conducted a training workshop to refresh constituents’ knowledge on infrastructure quality, June 17-21, 2024.

This five-day event held in Quezon City was attended by 30 members of the Provincial, City, and Municipal Project Monitoring and Implementation Units concerned in Engineering in the MIMAROPA region.

South Luzon Project Support Office Rural Infrastructure Engineers (RIEs) Engr. Bruce Evio and Engr. Jaypee Montes led the discussions on Infrastructure Quality Monitoring and Durability Systems (IQMDS). IQMDS is a framework which ensures sound contract management and supervision, quality assurance and control, and overall durability of infrastructure subprojects. This framework ensures that infrastructures are climate resilient while having reasonable investment and maintenance cost.

Other important topics discussed in the training workshop were the Operation and Maintenance System (O&M) led by Engr. Jhon Jhoe Tayone, and the Minimum Materials Test Requirements (MMTR) led by Engr. Jerome Layson. These discussions were tied together by a workshop on the preparation of Program of Works (POW) and Detailed Engineering Design (DED) led by Engr. Jaive Catapang.

The training workshop on IQMDS, MMTR, and O&M is part of the preparation for the implementation of PRDP Scale-U where large-scale investments, distribution hubs, logistics systems, and other service facilities are expected to be implemented. # (Danica A. Brutas, DA-PRDP MIMAROPA RPCO InfoACE Unit)
