Farming is the main source of income for majority of the residents in Carranglan, Nueva Ecija. Through the Carranglan Irrigators Association, farmers and residents decided to coordinate with the Local Government of Carranglan to apply for the Infrastructure component of the Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) to respond to the needs of the farmer-members in producing quality harvest.

Under the Regional Project Coordination Office 3 (RPCO3) and the Project Support Office (PSO), the Geo-Mapping and Governance Unit (GGU), Social and Environmental Safeguards (SES) and Engineering group had assisted the LGU of Carranglan in the conduct of re-geotagging activities and validation for the PRDP-funded Warehouse with Multi-Purpose Drying Pigment and Communal Irrigation System, held on September 28-29 at Nueva Ecija. The said activity was a requirement for the Sub-project Appraisal Report.

The Warehouse with MPDP shall benefit cooperatives such as the Avocado Tree Planters Association, Inc. at Brgy. Puncan, the Carranglan Multi-Crop Producers Cooperative of Brgy. Gen. Luna, Palay Planters and Harvest Association of Barangay Burgos at Brgy. Burgos, New Irrigators Association of Tabon Mayor, and the San Agustin Bantug Irrigators Association, Inc. of Sitio Pimaco, Brgy. T.L Padilla. San Agustin Bantug Irrigators Association, Inc. will receive both warehouse with MPDP and communal irrigation system, with a total project cost of PhP 94, 950,000 with the financing of 80% grant from PRDP, 10% from the LGU Equity and another 10% from the Proponent Groups Equity of each subprojects.

During the validation of the subprojects, Prince Roy Cruz from the SES Unit, requested the LGUs of Carranglan to prepare a request letter of cutting permit of the trees that will be affected during the implementation of the projects, and a letter of transfer of electric post to the Nueva Ecija Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NEECO). Likewise, he suggested for a consultation meeting to be held at every milestone and development of the project. (Dianne Lapuz, RPCO3 InfoACE)
