Enhanced Facility, Increased Productivity
Around P7.75 million worth of interventions from DA-PRDP aims to increase cacao farmer-member beneficiaries’ income through the enhancement of the tablea processing and marketing enterprise project of the Maragusan Multipurpose Cooperative (MAMPCO) in the municipality of Maragusan, Davao de Oro.
Initially, an air-conditioned delivery van was already procured and was included in the recent blessing ceremony of MAMPCO’s cacao processing equipment and facilities also provided by other government agencies.
“MAMPCO commit to use the facility and equipment efficiently, to sustain the operation of the tablea processing, to develop further the cacao industry and, to increase income of the cacao farmers,” said Armando Escuadro, MAMPCO Manager.
PRDP RPCO XI Deputy Project Director Marila L. Corpuz emphasized the advantage of value-adding to increase income of the co-op specially with an improved product packaging and labelling.
‘Take high regard on quality since it is the determinant of good price, so strictly and religiously follow standards no matter how difficult it is,” said Jaime Anter, Provincial Agriculturist of Davao de Oro.
To complete the package of investment provided by PRDP to MAMPCO, they will be enhancing their tablea production machinery and facilities including the provision of additional tablea processing equipment.
“Let us strive to sustain the project so that they will be able to help more farmers in our municipality,’ added Maragusan Vice-Mayor Colina.
MAMPCO has also received interventions from PRDP worth P2.51 million pesos for their tablea processing and marketing enterprise subproject. (Janelle Flores)
