DA Secretary Hands in PRDP Project in Lanao del Norte
BACOLOD, LANAO DEL NORTE – Department of Agriculture Secretary William C. Dar together with DA-10 Regional Executive Director and RPCO-10 Project Director Carlene C. Collado hands in PRDP subproject on November 24, 2020 in this municipality.
The Php 3,784,338.04 Abaca Fiber Processing and Marketing project of Dulag Farmers Association (DUFA), Dulag, Iligan City, consists of 1 unit decorticating machine, 1 unit baling machine, 2 units of weighing scale, and 30.7 metric tons of abaca trunks in addition to the hauling truck earlier received by the association on June 24, 2020.
The above-mentioned equipment were received by the association during the mass ceremonial turnover of agriculuture and fisheries interventions from DA, BFAR, and PhilRice.
During the earlier conducted program in Dulag, Iligan City, DA-10 representative Chedy V. Ansale, Division Chief of the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) emphasized that the assistance given to the association are vital for their progress. “You already have the necessary equipment for your association to flourish. However, you need to have commitment, integrity, and transparency. These are the secret traits for a successful enterprise.” Ansale said.
In a separate interview, DUFA President Manny G. Layatan, said that these equipment can upgrade their license as an association. “Our Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA) license is currently Class D, but with the equipment given to us by DA-PRDP, it qualifies us to apply for a Class A license. It will also improve the quality of our produce, thus we can demand for a higher selling price and we will be able to help our fellow abaca farmers not only in Iligan, but in other municipalities as well.
The Abaca Fiber Processing and Marketing Enterprise is the second DA-PRDP 10 IREAP subproject turned over in the region.
Also present during the turnover ceremony are Regional Technical Director and PRDP-RPCO 10 Deputy Project Director Carlota S. Madriaga, IREAP 10 Enterprise Development and Marketing Specialist Larry Paraluman, Field Operations Division Chief Audy G. Maagad, Lanao del Norte Provincial Agriculture Officer Letecia G. Ditucalan, representatives from LGU Iligan and PhilFIDA, farmers, and residents of Dulag. #
