The Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO) CALABARZON encourages local government units and farm and fisherfolk cooperatives and associations (FCAs) to submit agricultural infrastructure and enterprise subproject proposals that can be funded and implemented under the PRDP Scale-Up.

The PRDP Scale-Up is the expanded version of the DA-PRDP that aims to improve the efficiency of the food supply chain, ensure the availability of affordable and quality food in the market, and increase the income of farmers and fisherfolks.

Compared to the PRDP, the PRDP Scale-Up will fund and implement infrastructure and enterprise subprojects that promote climate resiliency, rice and corn commodities, and the clustering and consolidation of farmers.

The PRDP Scale-Up targets to benefit LGUs and groups actively involved in the agriculture sector, such as FCAs, FCA clusters, processors and consolidators. They may submit proposals for infrastructure projects such as farm-to-market roads, potable water systems, irrigation systems, bridges, slaughterhouses, tramlines, and feeder ports. Meanwhile, enterprises may submit sub-project proposals to facilitate and improve input supply/sourcing, production, consolidation, postharvest, processing, and marketing of a particular commodity.

The implementation of the PRDP Scale-Up will start this year and will end in 2029. The World Bank will jointly fund this for $600,000,000 or PhP33,000,000,000 and the government of the Philippines for PhP5,570,000,000.

Last March 15, the RPCO CALABARZON encouraged 38 local government units in Quezon Province to submit their proposals for PRDP Scale-Up. Meanwhile, other LGUs all over CALABARZON are already talking with the RPCO on their lobbied subprojects for PRDP Scale-Up.

For interested LGUs or FCAs, the RPCO CALABARZON, led by Project Director Engr. Marcos Aves, Sr. assures they will be provided reliable and quality support if they avail funding and assistance for a subproject under the PRDP Scale-Up. Their office is at the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office CALABARZON Lipa Agriculture Research and Experiment Station in Brgy. Maraouy, Lipa City, Batangas, and they may be contacted through prdp@calabarzon.da.gov.ph.
