DA-PRDP holds key meeting on proposed cold storage facility under AF-2

City of San Fernando, PAMPANGA – The Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) held a key meeting to discuss the timeline of activities of the proposed cold storage facility to be funded under the I-REAP Component Additional Financing 2 (AF-2) held on January 14, 2022, at the DA Regional Field Office 3 – Regional Executive Director Conference Room, here.

The meeting comes as DA Undersecretary for Operations and PRDP National Project Director Ariel Cayanan expressed urgency to fast track the issuance of No Objection Letter 1 (NOL 1) for the proposed Cold Storage Facility in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija.

“I have prioritized the cold storage project because it is for the purpose of production expansion to increase sufficiency level. This is also for the purpose of diversification to help farmers in Nueva Ecija,” he added.

With this, Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO 3) Project Director Dr. Eduardo Lapuz Jr. acknowledged the exigency to work closely with the counterparts in the National Project Coordination Office (NPCO), Project Support Office (PSO) North Luzon, and the support from the local government unit (LGU) to meet the target date for the release of NOL 1.

To encourage swift action and involvement, RPCO 3 Action Officer Maricel Dullas presented the timeline of activities that captured the essence of what the team will have to accomplish in the following weeks.

Representatives from the Katipunan ng mga Samahang Magsisibuyas ng Nueva Ecija (KASAMNE) assured full cooperation to submit all the necessary documents in accordance with the agreed timeline of activities.
