DA-PRDP 2 orients newly elected officials of Cagayan, Batanes

To familiarize the newly-elected Cagayan and Batanes Local Chief Executives and officials on the Department of Agriculture Philippine Rural Development Project’s (DA PRDP) processes and practices, the Regional Project Coordination Office 2 conducted today an orientation and briefing at the GoHotels Plus, Tuguegarao City.

Regional Executive and Project Director Narciso A. Edillo said the critical role of the Local Government Units (LGUs) in achieving agricultural and fisheries sector development from the municipal level. He said the DA would help the LGUs from the start until the subproject gets a nod for full implementation. 

Tuguegarao City Mayor Maila Ting-Que said in her welcome message the DA PRDP is a welcome development for her office since her team will learn and is interested in future collaborations with the agriculture department.

On the other hand, IPLAN Component Head Kay Olivas presented the objective of the said training, where she emphasized the PRDP’s organizational structure, general procedures, current undertakings, and plans. 

Olivas also stressed the significance of the provincial investment commodity plan per province and the priority commodities in the two provinces with value chain analysis.  

After the opening, the IPLAN, IBUILD, IREAP, and ISUPPORT (SES, GGU, M&E, Procurement Unit, and Finance Unit) discussed the critical highlights of their respective components and units.
