Cotabato Coconut Subprojects Undergo Review

Date Published: September 3, 2020

Representatives from PSO Mindanao, RPCO 12 and the Municipal Local Government of Cotabato conducted a joint technical review or JTR last August 19, 2020 on the proposed “Consolidation, Processing and Marketing of Copra” subproject which will be implemented for two proponent groups based in Cotabato city.

Members from the SAYAP Multipurpose Cooperative (SPMC) which is based in Kimagango, Midsayap and Kawayanon MPC based in Brgy. Kawayanon, Makilala, met with the technical team for the review to fast track the processing and approval of their proposed subprojects.

If approved, SMPC will receive as part of their P14.5M subproject proposal, a warehouse with dryer and a hauling truck. Kawayanon MPC for their part is hoping to receive a hauling truck and trading capital which would amount to P4.65M in PRDP assistance. The findings made by the technical team during the JTR will determine their recommendations for the issuance of NOL 1 for the enterprise subprojects.

“The JTR is an avenue for fast-tracking the review process of proposed subprojects,” said Elden Karl L. Requilme, Planning Specialist of PSO Mindanao’s I-PLAN Component. “That is the reason why all of the components and units of PRDP are represented here.”

Likened to a compass, the I-PLAN component’s reference documents such as the value chain analysis (VCA) and the commodity investment plans (CIP) is a guide by which PRDP is able to identify and prioritize interventions that are needed to boost the agriculture sector of local governments.
