CALABARZON I-REAP identifies possible enterprise interventions under AF II
With additional funding and implementation extension, the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) CALABARZON I-REAP component met with different banner programs to identify possible enterprise interventions to be funded under the Additional Financing (AF) II from the World Bank last October 29.
“With this new funding, our region aims to have big enterprise subprojects in all five provinces. This way, all provinces will see the benefits of PRDP,” Regional Project Director, Vilma Dimaculangan, said. Dir. Dimaculangan also represented the Regional Livestock Banner Program Coordinator during the activity.
As the AF II is retrofitted to support the agricultural sector affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the group identified commodities that are impacted by the quarantine restrictions as well as the possible interventions and proponent groups that can implement them. John Darel Colarina and Kristine Lea Climaco, Component Head and Business Development Officer of PRDP South Luzon Project Support Office I-REAP Component, respectively, led the session for project intervention.
Over the course of the activity, the participants were able to identify layered chicken, native chicken, mango, and corn as commodities with increased need and that can be supported under PRDP. Additional commodities and their specific interventions can still be recommended before the deadline set by the Project.
Aside from Director Dimaculangan and I-REAP staff, also present during the activity were Regional Executive Director Arnel de Mesa; Regional Deputy Project Director and High Value Crops Development Program Coordinator Redelliza Gruezo; and CALABARZON RPCO I-REAP Component Head Editha Salvosa. # (Lawrence Albert Bariring, DA-PRDP CALABARZON RPCO InfoACE Unit)
