Cagayan Province holds groundbreaking of 3rd FMR in 4 months
Reaching more than half a billion peso mark from the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) funds, Cagayan Province has embarked on another groundbreaking ceremony on June 7, 2017, at Pussian, Alcala, Cagayan for another I-BUILD subproject.
The 13. 10 kilometers Alcala East farm-to-market road (FMR) with Bridges, having a total cost of Php197, 993,490.58, traversing Barangays of Baculod, Masin, Agani, Pussian, Dalaoig and San Esteban is Cagayan’s third subproject.
The province has now a total of Php558, 814,203.07 for the construction of the three FMRs, which excludes the proposed I-REAP subprojects.
“Today marks another milestone as we start another infrastructure project, the Alcala East FMR. Many had been asking in the past if this project will be realized. Our endeavor today answers that question,” DA Regional Executive Director and PRDP Regional Project Director Lucrecio R. Alviar Jr. said.
“Talking about farm-to-market roads, I would say this is one of the factors leading to development. With the rehabilitation of this road, it will lessen your production cost,” he directed this to the residents of the six barangays within the road influence area, Baculod, Masin, Agani, San Esteban, Dalaoig and Pussian.
“I invoke that being the beneficiaries, help us guard this project because in doing so, you are helping your hometown Alcala. The development of this town is also the development of the Province of Cagayan,” Governor Manuel Mamba stressed.

The two approved subprojects for Cagayan are Iraga Solana-Bayabat, Amulung FMR and Namabbalan Norte, Tuguegarao City – Baliuag- Bical – Cabbo, Penablanca FMR.
“Aside from these three farm-to-market roads, there are other I-REAP subprojects proposed by the province that cater on dairy commodity,” Dr. Pearlita Mabasa, Cagayan PPMIU Head said.
Meantime, PLGU Cagayan awaits the result of the proposed 450.8 linear meters Nassiping, Gattaran-Dungao, Sto Nino Bridge amounting to Php 631, 249, 473.30 which is still being reviewed by RPCO2, PSO Luzon A and NPCO. (Dr. Ferdinand N. Cortez, DA-PRDP RPCO2 InfoACE Unit)
