The Ifugao Provincial Local Government can now proceed with the bidding of the proposed construction of Asipulo Level II Potable Water System (PWS) in Asipulo, Ifugao, after receiveing the green light from the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Scale-Up.

Through the DA-PRDP Regional Project Coordination office (RPCO) Cordillera, the No Objection Letter (NOL) 1 was issued on January 23, 2025, allowing the proponent LGU to proceed with the bidding process.

Currently, Asipulo lacks an integrated waterworks system, with most residents relying on natural springs developed into communal faucets. The Asipulo Level II PWS aims to provide 100% access to clean and safe water across seven barangays in Asipulo, Ifugao: Amduntog, Antipolo, Cawayan, Hallap, Namal, Pula, and Liwon. Once completed, the PWS will benefit 618 households—equivalent to 3,090 individuals (1,648 male and 1,442 female)—through new communal tap stands.

With a project cost of Php18.55 million, the subproject is expected to significantly improve the quality of life in Asipulo, particularly for farming and fishing households, which form the majority of its population.

While the DA-PRDP’s main focus is ensuring development of priority commodities with relevant enterprises and infrastructures, it also recognizes the complementing role of healthy communities to make these investments sustainable. ###
