Date Published: October 17, 2023

Aroroy, Masbate – The town’s Municipal Project Management and Implementation Unit (MPMIU) is gearing up to surpass its own milestone with the impending completion of a P249.18 million subproject funded through the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project’s (DA-PRDP) concreting of San Agustin to Macabug Farm-to-Market Road with Bridge this September, coming three years after they established a record of finishing their first project, a farm-to-market road, five months ahead of schedule.

According to LGU-Aroroy Municipal Agriculturist and concurrently MPMIU Head Arvin Ostia, the  Concreting of San Agustin to Macabug FMR With Bridge already has 92.26 percent physical accomplishment as of August 17, 2023.

“Ang target schedule of completion namin nito is March 24, 2024. Sa ngayon, ang estimate po namin, sa September 2023 this year, ay matatapos na kami for turn over (Our target schedule of completion is March 24, 2024. We estimate that in September 2023 this year, we will be finished for turnover),” Ostia said.

He attributed the immediate construction of the ongoing I-BUILD subproject to the availability of construction materials within the locality and adequate funds of the contractor to subsidize the project construction.

Mayor Arturo Virtucio also expressed his gratitude to DA PRDP saying “I would like to express my gratitude to the PRDP for establishing a project that created an impact to our town. This project helped uplift our economy. Farmers in our community were encouraged to cultivate more crops because it is now easier for them to deliver their produce to our town’s commercial hubs.”

He also lauded the PRDP for its effective and efficient system of implementing its subprojects.

“I appreciate PRDP’s way of implementing subprojects because it is strict and compliant with all the requirements like Deed of Donation for land as well as DENR’s rules and regulations, Vitucio added.

DA-PRDP South Luzon Project Director Milo Delos Reyes personally inspected the construction of the 9.46-kilometer FMR with 0.026-kilometer bridge together with the DA PRDP South Luzon and DA PRDP Bicol technical team headed by Deputy Project Director Adelina Losa on August 17, 2023. The construction of the Concreting of San Agustin to Macabug FMR With Bridge commenced on October 28, 2022 and is projected to be completed in September 2023.
