Benguet Governor Crescencio Pacalso (left, in sunglasses) leads the groundbreaking ceremonies for the improvement of the Along Jose–Mencio farm-to-market road (FMR) in Atok Benguet. The 11.5-kilometer FMR aims to reduce average travel time in the barangays of Caliking, Topdac, Poblacion, Abiang, Naguey and Pasdong, which boast of sprawling Arabica coffee—the province’s top priority commodity—as well as upland vegetable production areas. Expected to benefit about 2,500 households, the P183.95-million FMR subproject is implemented under the Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP).
