Laborers at the United Maligang Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (UFMPC) in Kiamba, Sarangani Province classify abaca fiber for twining into tinagak, the packaged raw material for wholesale. The UFMPC will soon expand their production, processing and marketing of high-quality abaca fiber with the approval of their P35.7-million enterprise development subproject under the Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP), employing more locals, including at least 75 more women for twining tinagak, and weaving sinamay or mesh fabric.
