Residents of Tigbauan, Iloilo will soon experience the comfort of traversing a concrete farm-to-market road following the issuance of the No Objection Letter 2 (NOL) dated July 18, 2016 from the National Project Coordination Office (NPCO) under the Philippine Rural Development Project.

The road rehab covers 15 barangays in its road influence area including the following: Parara Norte, Parara Sur, Bagacay, Dorong-an, Buenavista, Bayuco, Binaliuan Mayor, Binaliuan Minor, San Rafael, Nagba, Sermon, Dapdap, Taro, and Jamog and will benefit 20,266 residents with 4,663 households.

Project Support Office (PSO)– Visayas Cluster Deputy Project Director Engr. Cirilo N. Namoc lauded the local government of Tigbauan as well as the Provincial Project Management and Implementing Unit (PPMIU) of Iloilo regarding the project’s approval.

“The granting of the NOL 2 lifts us one step closer to achieving our goal of providing means to increase the incomes and productivity of our brothers in Iloilo. I would like to commend the people who are working behind these projects – from the LGU, PPMIU, RPCO, PSO and the NPCO. We hope that everything goes as planned to avoid delays. The soonest we can deliver, the better.”

The groundbreaking of the P77-million road project is estimated to be held sometime in August.

The PRDP, under the Department of Agriculture, is a six-year national project that aims to establish a modern, inclusive, value chain-oriented, and climate-resilient agriculture and fisheries sector.

Jointly funded by the World Bank, the national government, together with local government units and private sectors, the Project shall provide key infrastructure, facilities, technology and information to raise incomes, productivity, and competitiveness in targeted areas.
