The PRDP South Luzon Project Support Office (PSO) recognized on June 16 the Project Management and Implementation Unit (PPMIU) of Oriental Mindoro as the best PPMIU in the Cluster.

The PSO headed by Director Shandy Hubilla awarded the Oriental Mindoro PPMIU under the leadership of Hon. Alfonso Umali, Jr. for its exceptional performance in demonstrating the implementation of Provincial Commodity Investment Plan (PCIP).

According to Rey Lara, PSO I-PLAN Component Head, Oriental Mindoro’s PCIP attracted investments and opportunities for partnerships among government, nongovernment and private institutions including the engagement of the rural communities.

“It’s not about the projects, but how we change the lives of our farmers through equal partnerships,” shared the members of the Best PPMIU awardee composed of PPDO-OIC Lydia Muñeva Melgar, Provincial Agriculture Officer Marilyn Alcamces and Project Evaluation Officer Lennie Alberto.

As this year’s model PPMIU, the Oriental Mindoro PPMIU expressed that they are challenged to improve their performance and continue to pursue for the best.

The Oriental Mindoro PPMIU representatives also shared that from the start of their planning process, the intended project partners and clients like the farmers are already involved. Through the participatory approach in planning and the partnership with public and private organizations, more investment opportunities come for project proposals from local government units.

The awardees for the Best PPMIU in each region of South Luzon are the PPMIUs of Quezon under the leadership of Hon. David Suarez, Puerto Princesa under the leadership of Hon. Lucilo Bayron, and Camarines Norte under the leadership of Hon. Edgardo Tallado. ### (Gumamela Celes Bejarin, DA-PRDP PSO South Luzon InfoACE Unit)
