The third leg of the World Bank (WB) First Implementation Support Mission for Philippine Rural Development Project in Mindanao is held in Cagayan de Oro City. WB consultants and DA-PRDP personnel visited the Integrated Coco-base Enterprise proposed project in Tubod, Lanao del Norte and the Rehab/Reopening of Dapacan Bajo-Bunawan-Don Bernardo Neri FMR with Spillway Bridge project in Calamba, Misamis Occidental.

The review mission in the cluster kicked-off on September 8, 2015 with the opening of an exhibit featuring the priority commodities in Mindanao such as coconut, palm oil, cacao, and rubber. It was followed by a short program, attended by partner LGUs.

Provincial Project Management Implementing Units (PPMIUs) of Davao del Norte and Lanao del norte presented how they have crafted their Provincial Commodity Investment Plans (PCIPs), which help them come up with sub-project proposals under the PRDP. Likewise, PPMIU heads from these provinces presented respective learnings in utilising PRDP innovations such as geo-tagging and Expanded-Vulnerability and Suitability Assessment tool.

Aside from grant provided to LGUs, the PRDP also aims to capacitate them in planning, implementing, and monitoring projects that will drive inclusive economic growth in the countryside.

Through the implementation support mission, the WB reviews and assesses how the project is implemented from top level to the local levels, through consultation and project visit.

On September 9, two groups visited separately project under the Enterprise Development component and Infrastructure Development component. The mission in Mindanao is concluded with an exit conference on September 10. (Photos by: Joseph Caldino, Catherine Nanta, Gian Enriquez)
