The Ilocos Region Project Advisory Board (RPAB) on Friday approved the construction of the Ubbog Bridge with approaches in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, a vital step towards improving agricultural productivity and market access for farmers in the municipality.

Funded under the Philippine Rural Development Project Scale-Up (PRDP-SU), the Php 109.89 million project will significantly benefit farmers in four barangays: Callaguip, Cayubog, Masintoc, and Oaig-Upay-Abulao.

By enhancing connectivity, the bridge will reduce transportation costs and facilitate the timely delivery of various agricultural commodities to markets, including rice, corn, garlic, onion, vegetables, mango, shrimp, malaga, bangus, and tilapia.

This approval follows the recent endorsement of three other subprojects last week by the RPAB in San Carlos City, Pangasinan.

Currently, the municipality of Paoay has already reaped the benefits of two previous PRDP-funded infrastructure projects: the rehabilitation of the Nalasin-Sungadan-Langiden farm-to-market road and the rehabilitation of the Paoay communal irrigation system. ###
