Restoring Roads, Increasing Farming Productivity
The Department of Agriculture 11 – Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) team has conducted the final inspection of the Rehabilitation of New Visayas-Tulalian Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) with Bridge in Davao del Norte to ensure the proper operations and maintenance of the subproject on September 2 in the Municipality of Sto. Tomas in Davao del Norte.
Funded under the World Bank AF2 and European Union Co-Financing, the Philippine government and the PLGU Davao del Norte, the P187.2-million project which started in May 10, 2023, has reached 100 percent physical completion as of August 31, 2024.
A coordination meeting was also made to discuss the strategies for sustaining the project’s benefits and ensuring long-term impact on the community.
Emphasizing on the project’s success, DA11 Regional Technical Director Marie Ann Constantino expressed her hope and desire for future projects involving building and restoring for the present and future situation of the farming community region.
“This farm-to-market road is a vital lifeline for our farmers in the area. It not only enhances access to markets but also boosts agricultural productivity, ultimately improving the livelihoods of the people. I hope that more of this will continue in the future, helping more farmers and increasing productivity,” said Constantino.
