Proponent groups draw business models for proposed PRDP Scale-Up enterprise subprojects
Local government units (LGU) and farmer cooperatives and associations (FCA), with the assistance of the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Central Luzon enterprise component, I-REAP, undertook the Business Model Preparation and Workshop for their proposed enterprises under the PRDP Scale-Up on November 21-22, 2023, in Lubao, Pampanga.
Proponent groups from Bataan, Zambales, and Nueva Ecija drew the business concepts for enterprises such as a mango hub, a dairy processing center, poultry dressing plants, a salt-making facility, and an onion cold storage facility.
Business modeling is the first step in the business planning process for enterprise subprojects being proposed in PRDP. It provides a complete overview of the business which identifies strategies for profitability including products and services to be offered, target-market, and any expected cost.
The DA-PRDP Central Luzon I-REAP staff taught the proponent groups to draft the business model and gave comments and suggestions on the presented outputs.
These proposed subprojects are among the first ones to be proposed the PRDP Scale-Up which is the expanded version of the World Bank supported PRDP which entails a $600-million loan granted to the Philippine government, lodged under the DA. (Ram Bautista, RPCO 3 InfoACE)
