Php1B-worth of subprojects in North Luzon now eligible for PRDP Scale-Up funding
Five infrastructure subprojects worth Php 1 billion pesos have been awarded a certificate of eligibility by the Department of Agriculture (DA) indicating approval for funding under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Scale-Up in the North Luzon cluster on November 6, 2023, in Quezon City.
Four of the approved subprojects will be implemented in the Ilocos region and one in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
These are the Construction of San Jose Multi-Purpose Warehouse with Solar Dryer in Vintar, Ilocos Norte worth Php 12M in support of the garlic commodity; the Rehabilitation of Ramot-Puguil FMR in Santol, La Union worth Php 299M in support of the mango; the Construction of Pangasinan Bangus Breeding and Hatchery in Bolinao, Pangasinan worth Php 239M to support bangus commodity; the Rehabilitation of San Vicente-Viga FMR with Bridge in Dasol, Pangasinan worth Php 290M to support goat commodity, and the Improvement of Lamka-Mappit FMR in Kiangan, Ifugao worth Php 170M in support of the coffee commodity.
The awarding of eligibility certification was conducted as part of the grand launching of the DA’s three big-ticket projects, the PRDP Scale-Up, Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture the Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project (MIADP), and the Philippine Fisheries and Coastal Resiliency (FishCoRe) Project.
The event marks the official commencement of the implementation of the said three core projects of DA in the country.
World Bank Country Director Ndiame Diop, DA Senior Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban, and Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr led the awarding together with Undersecretary Drusila Esther Bayate, Asec. Arnel V. De Mesa, and Deputy Project Director Shandy M. Hubilla, to provincial and municipal local chief executives and other officials who are proponents of the subprojects.
More subprojects, both infrastructure and enterprise, are expected to be funded under the PRDP Scale-Up as the North Luzon cluster team, from the Project Support Office (PSO), Regional Project Coordination Offices (RPCOs) and partner LGUs and farmer groups, continuously work hand in hand to successfully comply with all the requirements needed for other proposed subprojects to qualify for PRDP Scale-Up. ### (Ericson M.
