MIMAROPA Regional Development Council endorses PRDP Scale-Up

Date Published: August 7, 2023

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) MIMAROPA’s Regional Development Council (RDC) approved the implementation of PRDP Scale-Up during their Second Quarter Full Council Meeting in Pasay City on June 2.

Following this endorsement, it was resolved that PRDP Scale-Up shall be included in the investment program of the Department of Agriculture and the Regional Development Investment Program 2023-2028.

Before the RDC’s endorsement, PRDP Scale-Up was previously endorsed by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) MIMAROPA’s Economic Development Committee (EDC) during their Second Quarter Meeting in Manila, May 4.

Led by Deputy Project Director Engr. Annielyn Del Rosario, PRDP’s background, highlights, notable accomplishments, and PRDP Scale-Up’s Social Acceptability were presented to the members of the EDC.

The EDC, in return, presented their comments and recommendations, particularly raising concerns about the benefit-cost ratio. This was addressed by highlighting the numerous economic benefits provided by PRDP subprojects to their respective communities, including social and non-financial benefits. The EDC was assured that PRDP subprojects undergo multiple economic analyses to ensure the project’s success.

PRDP Scale-Up is proposed to be one of the DA’s flagship programs designed to address the gaps in the commodity value chains by improving the efficiency of the food supply chain toward greater connectivity, mobility, accessibility, availability, and affordability of food in the market.

Grounded on the lessons learned from PRDP Phase 1, PRDP Scale-Up is a program emphasizing  on addressing gaps in value chains, climate resilience, and a more modernized agri-fishery sector. It also aims to strengthen the productive alliance with the private sector to provide long-term sustainable markets for the project’s enterprises. # (Danica A.
