Agri Attaches visit Davao de Oro DA-PRDP Projects

Date Published: February 28, 2023

Two DA-PRDP project beneficiaries were visited by the Agriculture Attachés from China, Thailand, and the Middle East during their recent visit to the Davao Region.

The Maragusan Multipurpose Cooperative (MAMPCO) and the Cocolife Multipurpose Cooperative (Cocolife MPC) were able to showcase their products to Agriculture Counselor to China Ana Garcia Abejuela, together with Agriculture Attaché to Middle East Nolet Fulgencio and Agriculture Attache to Thailand Annalyn Lopez.

MAMPCO is the recipient of the “Tablea Processing and Marketing Enterprise” subproject which was completed in 2018. Since then, the cooperative has expanded their market outside Davao de Oro with more cacao-based products introduced in the market. They are known for their Magway Harvest Tablea and chocolates.

Meanwhile, Cocolife MPC has improved their virgin coconut oil processing operations with the completion of the “Enhancement of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) and By-Product Processing and Marketing Enterprise” subproject with DA-PRDP in 2022.

Agriculture Counselor to China Ana Garcia Abejuela encouraged cooperatives to participate in domestic and international trade fair as it serves as an excellent platform to showcase their products and introduce it to bigger market while expanding their linkage with other exhibitors and consumers.

DA-XI Regional Technical Director for Operations Marila Corpuz assured their continued support for local agri producers. “We have a big chance to expand our export opportunities and we assure you that we in the government will help you be export-ready and connect you with foreign buyers,” said Corpuz.

The said visit was conduced in line with the dialogue with the Durian Industry Association of Davao City (DIADC) where they conducted an ocular inspection on two possible farms identified as exporters. (Joy Montecalvo, PSOMin with reports from Feliz Lim and photos by Jay Delino, RAFIS11)
