With the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (PAFES) as one the key strategies under the “One DA” Reform Agenda of the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO) CALABARZON I-PLAN Component, together with the DA CALABARZON, held the “Workshop on the Enhancement, Finalization, and Writeshop of the PAFES – Collaborative Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Program (CPAFEP) in Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas, from April 5 – 7, 2022.

The said workshop was aimed to institutionalize the PCIP to the PAFES through the formulation and implementation of the CPAFEP.

The PAFES is already established in the Province of Batangas, serving as a pilot province in the region, in which the CPAFEP was formulated based on the investment requirements stipulated in the Provincial Commodity Investment Plan.

In her opening remarks, DA-PRDP RPCO CALABARZON Deputy Project Director Engineer Redelliza Gruezo reiterated the importance of the workshop in identifying priority programs and projects to enhance systematic and strategic approaches to further grow the agri-fishery sector in the province.

PAFES Batangas Center Director and Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Rodrigo M. Bautista added that he hopes for participants to continue to perform their duties for the region to develop.

“Sa tulong ng lahat ng andito, sana po ay huwag kayong magsawang tumulong at ma-inspire na manguna sa pagtaguyod ng agrikultura sa ating lalawigan,” Dr. Bautista said.

Participants during the workshop include representatives from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Philippine Rice Research Institute, DA CALABARZON units, and the PPMIU – PPDO/PAFEC of the Batangas Provincial Local Government Unit.
