FMR liberates farmers and fisherfolk from high hauling cost

The upgrading and concreting of 7.95 KM Punawan-Sitio Pagaypayan-Sioton farm-to-market road was the first FMR to be implemented in Zamboanga Peninsula with a bridge component measuring 28.60 linear meter. Its total subproject cost amounting to almost P140 million including the 10% counterpart from Municipal Local Government of Mabuhay.

The bridge component greatly liberated the farmers and fisherfolk from the burden of high hauling cost to bring and transport products to the market. The savings from hauling and delivery cost added to their income.

Police officer Edwin Caloya recounted the challenges they faced in addressing the peace and order situation in the municipality. But those were in the past, according to him. Because today, they could quickly respond to any untoward incidents that may happen in the area using their patrol cars.

“The opening of accessible road in this area greatly contributed to the peace and order in the community. In times of emergency, we can now respond quickly,” said Caloya.

Moreover, constituents from the 11 barangays thanked DA-PRDP for at long last, the basic social services of the government like health, higher education, peace and order and even tourism are easily accessible to them.

They gave credit to the late Vice Mayor (then Mayor) and the late Municipal Engineer Edgardo Pampanga who were behind the realization of their dream to have a climate-resilient road.

The punch-listing activity was made to identify and list down the defects of the completed civil works that need to be corrected, may it be to be removed and replaced or exposied only.  The contractor had to correct those defects before the subproject be turned over to the MLGU for its full usage.
