Llanera, NUEVA ECIJA – The P 51-million farm-to-market (FMR) project of the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA – PRDP) recently registered 100% complete and will be open to the public soon to boost cultivation and promote a more progressive community, here.

The new FMR will be officially turned over to the local government and could be serviceable to farmers, residents and motorists by the end of this month.

Recently, the Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO 3) in cooperation with the Project Support Office (PSO) conducted the final inspection of the subproject on March 4, 2021 to evaluate the current standing of the 6.21-kilometer concrete road linking the Barangays of San Felipe, San Nicolas and A. Bonifacio Norte.

The newly completed FMR is seen to support mainly the onion production and boost farmed trading within the road influence area.

The joint inspection team (JIT) is led by RPCO 3 Action Officer Gil G. David, joined by RPCO 3 I-BUILD Component Head Engineer Abraham Molina, RPCO 3 I-BUILD Rural Infrastructure Engineer Bon Alexis Guatato, RPCO 3 Social Environmental and Safeguards Associate Prince Roy Cruz, RPCO 3 Geomapping and Governance GIS Data Officer Alvin Mariano, PSO I-BUILD Engineer Shiedel Delicano and PSO Administrative Staff Partrick Ian Mones.

The FMR, according to Engr. Guatato is 7 kilometers away from the center of the commercialized area of Llanera which is beneficial for farmers here and some remote areas of the municipality.

“The project is a way to encourage farmers to thrive and earn more with the provision of an improved road network inspiring them to be productive,” he added.

He also disclosed that about 1,100 farmers are engaged in planting palay, onion, ampalaya, eggplant and other lowland vegetables in the area who will soon no longer worry traversing rough and coarse roads in delivering harvest going to nearby markets.
