Civil works on the way for two IREAP SPs
Two upcoming processing centers are set to rise as DA-PRDP 10 conducts a Pre-construction Conference for the civil works in support to Coconut Sugar Processing and Marketing in Gingoog, Misamis Oriental and Coffee Processing and Marketing Enterprise in Maramag, Bukidnon on March 2 and 9, 2021, respectively.
The Coconut Sugar Processing and Marketing subproject will benefit the 240 members of the Agay-ayan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (AMCI) with an estimated total project cost of Php 4.28 M. This will include the processing and marketing facility, machinery and equipment, and raw materials such as coco sap.
The subproject aims to improve the process of coco sugar production, sustain the volume of production that will meet the demands of the buyers and uplift the overall living condition of the coconut farmers for both members and nonmembers of the cooperative.
On the other hand, the Coffee Processing and Marketing Enterprise has an estimated total project cost of Php 7.85 M and it consists of the construction of the coffee processing center, a hauling vehicle, 3 Multi-Purpose Drying Pavements (MPDP), and raw coffee materials. There are about 442 members of the Rural Improvement Club (RIC) Federation of Kape Maramag, Incorporated will benefit from the said SP.
The enterprise aims to increase the association and the farmers’ income by 5% and increase t employment rate from 18 to 32 employees during the first year of project implementation.
Furthermore, the proposed enterprise will also allow Kape Maramag to improve and enhance capability and capacity as coffee consolidator, trader and processor, while complying with the demand of the buyers in terms of quality and quantity.
The said conference also explains the roles of the beneficiares during the project implementation.
The civil works will proceed to construction once PRDP has issued a Notice to Proceed (NTP) to the contractors. # (Isa Agawin, RPCO 10)
