Cuyapo, NUEVA ECIJA – The Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) together with the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija led the groundbreaking ceremony on January 27, 2021 in Barangay Bonifacio, here to officially start the construction of the civil works for the Consolidation and Marketing of Goats Multiplier Farm and Contract Growing this year.

The implementation of the Consolidation and Marketing of Goats Multiplier Farm and Contract Growing is the realization of a long-time dream of the Bonifacio Multi-Purpose Cooperative that is envisaged to help strengthen the breeding, nutrition, and production of native and mestizo goats that contribute to food supply and sustainable agriculture.

According to I-REAP Enterprise Development and Marketing Specialist Maricel Dullas , the new facility will open more opportunities for the Municipality of Cuyapo to become the center of goat production and marketing in the province as well as in nearby provinces.

The DA-PRDP has allotted P13.6 million for this enterprise project which is designed to provide a conducive housing for breeding goats in the municipality for years to come.

For his part, Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio M. Umali took the opportunity to thank the DA-PRDP for its unceasing support in providing government programs to increase the competitiveness of farmer-beneficiaries which intends to promote economic growth in rural areas.

Now this is becoming a reality, goat farmers will soon benefit from this development and apply management plans for an efficient marketing of locally produced goats towards a profitable industry. (MA. REINA LEN G. LUNA, RPCO3 InfoACE)
