Talavera FMR registers 67% completion
Talavera, NUEVA ECIJA – The P38-million farm-to-market road (FMR) project of the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) in this town recently registered 67-percent completion.
In a joint inspection led by the Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO 3) together with the Municipal Project Management Implementing Unit (MPMIU) of Talavera on September 8, 2020, the subproject was thoroughly assessed to evaluate the progress and the quality of work
According to Rural Infrastructure Engineer Lester Bacual, major activities on-site includes concreting of the remaining unpaved portion of the FMR and the construction of grouted riprap to provide protection and prevent scouring of the road.
Engr. Bacual underscored the importance of upgrading the road that is seen to provide access to the four barangays composed of Poblacion Sur, La Torre, Bantug and Mamandil which will serve as an essential linkage of farmers and their farm products to the intended markets in the municipality.
He also expressed optimism that the subproject is on track to be completed within the target date this year.
Still, precautionary health measures are strictly implemented on site so workers are safe adding that the project site isn’t compromised with irregularity and can continue without delay.
“Vision of a concrete access road has always been a dream for farmers here and in just a few months that will become a reality,” Engr. Bacual ended. (MA. REINA LEN G. LUNA, RPCO3 InfoACE)
