P 51-M FMR EXPANDS AGRI COMMODITIES IN NUEVA ECIJA

Llanera, NUEVA ECIJA – The P51-M project of the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) is seen to increase agricultural commodities, here.

On June 4, 2020 the Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO 3) of the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRPD) led by Action Officer Gil G. David, together with I-BUILD Component Unit Head Engineer Abraham Molina, Rural Infrastructure Engineer Lester Bacual, Geomapping and Governance GIS Data Officer Engineer Maurice Pineda and Social and Environmental Safeguards Officer Prince Roy Cruz initiated a site visit to the subproject since the general community quarantine (GCQ) has been implemented.

The 6.21-kilometer Improvement of San Felipe- San Nicolas via A. Bonifacio Norte Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) directly benefits 5,238 individuals or 2,315 farming households whose primary source of livelihood and income is agriculture.

Meanwhile, Engr. Bacual stated that 1,100 farmers are engaged in planting palay, onion, ampalaya, eggplant and other lowland vegetables. Likewise, fishing and livestock raising are other sources of livelihood in the said barangays.

He also shared that the FMR aims to reduce travel time from farm to market in the barangays of A. Bonifacio Norte, San Felipe and San Nicolas by 50%.

Currently, the FMR has attained 75% physical accomplishment.

This project from the agricultural sector is built to support the onion industry in the province and the farmers planting high-value crops in the locality.
