Surigao del Norte Gets P656.89-M in DA-PRDP Funding

Surigao del Norte has P656.89 million in allocated funds for its 11 subprojects under the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP).

These subprojects include six (6) farm-to-market roads (FMR’s) worth P534.49 million with a combined length of 42.26 kilometers and 30.80 linear meter, one (1) FMR with bridge measuring 3.94 kilometer worth P109.14 million under the IBUILD component, and two (2) enterprise subprojects worth P13.26 million.

The municipalities and the city that availed these said funds include Bacuag with one (1) 4.75kilometer FMR worth P13.58 million; Gigaquit  with one (1) FMR measuring 1.45km worth P13.58 million; Mainit with one (1) FMR measuring 18.40 km worth P217.90 million; Malimono with one (1) 6.5 km FMR worth P44.11 million;  Sison with three (3) FMRs with 8.97 km with 30.80 linear meter worth P190.95 million;  and Placer with one (1) FMR measuring 4.86 km worth P81.57 million.

Out of these 9 infrastructure subprojects, four (4) are already completed with a total cost of P293.94 million with 27.62 combined length, while the remaining five (5) are still under implementation.

For the IREAP component, two (2) enterprise subprojects are still under implementation which covers the Banana Consolidation and Marketing worth P2.76 million in the Municipality of Placer, and Geonet Production and Marketing- worth P10.50 million in the Municipality of Claver.

Aside from Surigao del Norte, four other provinces of Caraga also received funding from PRDP. These include Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Island, and Surigao del Sur.

PRDP is a six year project that aim to achieve 5% increase per year in real household annual incomes of farmer and fisherfolk beneficiaries, 30% incease in incomes for targeted beneficiaries involved in enterprise development, 7% increase in value of annual market output, and 20% increase in number of farmers and fisherfolk with improved access to DA services.
