Director Reyzaldy Tan presenting MinDA’s plans for BARMM

Representatives of the Mindanao Development Authority or MinDA visited the Department of Agriculture Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Mindanao Project Support Office last January 29, 2020 to discuss the possibility of future collaborations between the two organizations in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The MinDA team was headed by Director Reyzaldy Tan of MinDA’s Planning, Policy and Project Development Office and were met by the heads and representatives of the different components of PRDP PSO Mindanao from the I-BUILD, I-REAP, I-PLAN and the I-SUPPORT units. The main objective of the meeting was a briefing and orientation on PRDP’s procedures on the submission, approval and implementation of subprojects.

Director Tan wanted to explore the possibility of convergence opportunities for MinDA, PRDP, and the local government units of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in the Municipality of Taraka in Lanao del Sur both for enterprise development as well as infrastructure projects in particular for irrigation. PRDP on their part promised to revisit the existing plans for the province to know which interventions can be made there according to the Provincial Commodity Investment Plan (PCIP) for Lanao del Norte.

The Provincial Commodity Investment Plan helps in identifying the priority value chain for a province as well as help PRDP determine which rural infrastructure and enterprise subprojects they will support to help develop the agri-fishery sectors of the different provinces.
