City of San Fernando, PAMPANGA – The Philippine Rural Development Project Regional Coordination Office has joined the celebration of National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) this November with the theme “Buy Local. Eat Local. Support our Rice Farmers.”

NRAM was celebrated by virtue of Proclamation No. 524 signed on Jan. 5, 2004, by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

The month-long celebration aims to encourage the public to buy local agricultural products and farm produce as a way to support farmers likewise to pay tribute to their hard work and diligence.

In support of this celebration, PRDP officers and staff actively participated to various activities among which are Poster Making Contest, Photo Contest, Poem Making Contest and Rice Cooking Contest spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 3 under the Rice Program.
