125M worth of enterprise proposals approved by NPCO
Eight more subprojects under the Philippine Rural Development Project’s (PRDP) enterprise component have successfully received approval from the National Project Coordination Office (NPCO), few months after the World Bank okayed Kalinga Coffee Enterprise, the cluster’s pilot I-REAP subproject.
The NPCO and Project Support Office (PSO) heads and officers convened on December 16-18 to scrutinize the viability of selected enterprise subprojects prior to the issuance of No Objection Letters (NOL). Proponent groups from Isabela, Cagayan, Quirino, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Tarlac, Zambales and Bataan have presented their respective business and procurement plans for further review by the approving body composed of the teams of I-REAP, I-BUILD, Social and Environment Safeguards, Geotagging and Governance Unit, Finance, Procurement, Monitoring and Evaluation and the Economists group.
The I-REAP, or the Investments for Rural Enterprise and Agricultural Productivity is a component under the PRDP that aims to strengthen and develop viable agri-fishery based enterprises through efficient value chains of key agricultural and fishery products in targeted project areas by providing technical, financial and infrastructure support. The issuance of the NOL1 gives the go signal to proceed with the procurement activities identified in the procurement plan.
Among the 12 proposals presented, eight were seen compliant of the requirements and were able to obtain their respective NOLs, including a P2-million Small Livelihood Project in Zambales. (Kayla Arceo, PSO InfoACE)
