Date Published: June 13, 2018

World Bank consultant Engr. Raoul Azanza, together with a team composed of engineers and Social and Environmental Safeguards Specialists from the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) national, cluster, and regional offices and from the Provincial LGU of Benguet visited the ongoing Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) subproject entitled “Improvement of Km. 49-Ambakian FMR” on June 8, 2018.

The project is a 10.79-kilometer FMR covering barangay Paoay of the municipality of Atok and barangay Batan of the municipality of Kabayan. With a physical accomplishment of 15.43% as of November 14, 2017, the construction of the FMR was suspended due to environmental concerns and variations from the approved plan to the actual site. As recommended during the recently held 6th World Bank Implementation Support Mission, the site visitation was conducted to assess the current status and provide necessary recommendations in order to resolve concerns affecting the implementation of the subproject.

With the findings and recommendations from the World Bank and the National Project Coordination Office (NPCO), the PLGU came up with an action plan to resolve the issues. Meanwhile, consultations will be conducted as part of the action plan.
