IMPROVEMENT OF ROAD VITAL FOR CARRANGLAN FARMERS

Date Published: January 6, 2021

Carranglan, NUEVA ECIJA – The improvement of the farm-to-market road (FMR) here is seen to be vital and beneficial to at least 2, 272 households that will ease the burden of farmers in transporting produce and crops down to the nearest market.

During the site inspection on November, 25 2020 initiated by the Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO 3) led by Action Officer Gil G. David together with I-BUILD Component Head Engineer Abraham Molina and Rural Infrastructure Engineer Bon Alexis Guatato determined that the subproject has registered 70% in its physical accomplishment and will be fully constructed by January of 2021.

With it, Engr. Guatato stressed the transfer of goods and services in hard-to-reach areas in the municipality will significantly improve upon the completion of the P72-million FMR project funded under the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP).

“We reassure that we are fast-tracking the completion of the remaining portions of the road to provide easier transport of agricultural products and increase job opportunity for farmers in the rural areas,” added Engr. Guatato.

He also underlined the inspection is done to gauge the progress of the subproject and make sure that it is up to standards to guarantee its sustainability.

The project involves the concreting of a 2-lane gravel local road with a length of 7-kilometer traversing vast fields of Barangay R.A Padilla to Barangay Bunga.

In addition, the FMR is geared towards uplifting the living conditions of farming communities in remote areas.

The DA-PRDP, through the I-BUILD Component, sees that FMRs are among the essential projects of the government’s initiative in building reliable infrastructure to enhance and develop the productivity in the countryside.

Also present in the joint inspection are Project Support Office (PSO) I-BUILD Engineer Shiedel Delicano, Geomapping and Governance GIS Data Officer Engineer Maurice Pineda, Social and Safeguards (SES) Associate Roy Prince Cruz and I-BUILD Project Development Associate Roel Yadao. (MA.
